There are few things about the exterior of a Pennsylvania property that can impact a first impression like landscape tree and shrub plantings. A few large caliper, mature trees in the yard lend a look of permanence and stability to a new home. Complementing those trees with lower growing evergreen and deciduous shrubs and perennials can provide a garden landscape filled with all of your favorite colors and scents.
Each of the trees, shrubs and smaller plantings we install are grown locally. The only way to be sure that your new plant installation can endure the harsh Pennsylvania winters is for those plants to have grown up in harsh Pennsylvania winters. For that reason, one of the nurseries we use frequently is Sauders Nursery. This local Pennsylvania nursery consistently provides us with large, healthy plant material for our landscape projects.
And when we select the plants for your landscape design, we select those most appropriate for your personal needs as well as the conditions present on your property. These considerations include sun exposure, existing soil characteristics and moisture content, among others. Only the years of horticultural experience that comes with working in our field can provide the knowledge required to select the right plants for the right locations.
For example, Fragrant Viburnum of various cultivars can tolerate full sun or shade, and perform well in most soils (but prefer a slightly acidic pH). They have attractive blooms and most give a colorful fall foliage show. Sweetbay Magnolia, with it's creamy-white flowers and late summer red fruit, prefers more moist soils, and is an excellent choice where there's room on your property for a larger ornamental tree.
Those are just two among the thousands of plants we use in our landscaping installations. And each tree and shrub we plant is given all the care we'd give to our own gardens. Holes are dug according to the standards set forth by the American Horticultural Society and the PA DNR. Amendments are added to the soils placed around the rootball, and larger tree plantings are stabilized against wind movement by staking.
Our care of your landscape doesn't have to stop when we've completed your landscaping project. Our skilled professionals can manage your landscape as it grows and matures, pruning your woody plants to maintain health and to promote good form.
Our crews will keep your landscaped property neat and tidy, removing and disposing of all trimmings properly.
We're also licensed by the state of Pennsylvania to apply herbicides and pesticides to keep your landscape investment safe and healthy, all while being mindful of our environment.
